ROBYN SPENCE
Portrait and plein air painter
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Robyn Spence grew up in Australia where she studied drawing, painting and the history of art at the remote Tasmania University’s historic waterfront School of Art.
The passion to paint emerged from an early appreciation of the color and form found in the unique beauty of the rugged weathered Tasmanian landscape, and combined with the influences of the great contemporary Australian artists such as Lloyd Rees and Sir Arthur Streeton.

The richness of light and color in every day objects and outdoor scenes continues to inspire the artist to create artwork reflecting her personal experiences

Since living in the USA, ongoing studies with American portrait artists who have been directly influenced by the work of John Singer Sargent, Robert Henri, and others have been particularly inspirational for a chosen path in the field of portraiture.
